purpose drivenBob Coté is living proof that a person can overcome his addiction. In 1982 Coté's life was as bleak as anyone on the street today. For Coté, his personal demon was alcohol, but he fought back and beat his addiction. As a result he came back from the street with a vision to help others fighting their own demons. Twenty-two years later he is still at it. Step 13 has helped thousands of men. Bob Coté is living proof that one person can make a difference. Mr. Coté, was appointed as a member to the Department of Veterans Affairs advisory committee on homeless veterans and is charged with advising the Secretary Jim Nicholson on benefits and services provided by the Department to homeless veterans. Coté was named one of America’s most virtuous citizens by George Magazine, featured on a prime time ABC special with John Stossel, and recognized by the “1,000 Points of Light” program by President George H. Bush and was appointed to the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board for the State of Colorado by Governor Bill Owens. Articles about Coté and step 13 have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, American Enterprise, The Washington Times, Reader's Digest, San Francisco Examiner, Baltimore Sun, Investor's Business Daily, National Review, Insight magazine and The Washington Post. Television coverage includes ABC World News, NBC Nightly News, CNBC, CNN, C-Span, Fox News and Dateline. awards:

Notes from Bob
God gives every bird its food but does not throw the food in its nest. God also gives each bird the material to make its nest but does build it for the bird; the bird has to do its part. Of course, if a bird is unable to fly, we should take care of him. But there are many who could fly but don’t or won’t. These need a nudge out of the nest, not just a cozy place in it. They might fall, but it’s the only way they’ll ever get to soar to new heights.
